Obituary

Mass Communi-cation expert and noted journalist Prof Khairul Bashar died on Saturday night at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was 78.

His body will be brought to Dhaka this morning and he will be buried in Jurain graveyard tomorrow, family sources said.

He was a professor of Mass Communications Department at Selangor University of Malaysia, and the executive director of Kuala Lumpur-based Asian Institute of Development Communication (Aidcom), worked for different newspapers in Bangladesh, was the editor of international magazine "Journal for Development Communications", published from Malaysia, and the secretary general of Manila-based Press Foundation of Asia.
