Physiotherapists want own council

Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association (BPA) yesterday formed a human chain before Jatiya Press Club demanding formation of an independent council for physiotherapists through immediate implementation of a government circular.

They also demanded that a building for Bangladesh College of Physiotherapy be constructed immediately on the allotted land, said a press release.

All physiotherapy departments in government hospitals are "illegally being converted to physical medicine departments", degrading their status, and physicians of Physical Medicine Association are trying to implement a proposal for creating third class posts for physiotherapists even though procedure of creating first class posts for them is now at the final stage, speakers alleged.
