Post-polls clash injures 14 in Chuadanga

At least 14 people, including four women, were injured when supporters of the newly elected councillor of ward-7 of Chuadanga municipality and a defeated councillor candidate clashed yesterday afternoon.

Witnesses said supporters of Councillor Abul Hossain and defeated councillor candidate Abdul Razzaque Taru clashed in Atimkhana around 4:00pm over the election results.

A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee, injuring 14 people. They also vandalised several houses in the area.

On information, police rushed to the area and brought the situation under control, said Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station.

The injured were taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, added the officer-in-charge of the police station.
