Prof Jamal Nazrul remembered

Eminent cosmologist and Chittagong University's (CU) emeritus Prof Jamal Nazrul Islam will remain alive through his works and creations, said CU vice-chancellor Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury yesterday at the 14th Mathematical Physics Conference held in the university's Mathematics and Physical Science Auditorium.

On the occasion of the third commemoration of Prof Islam, the VC said that he was a pioneer in the field of science and has worked in "Relativity and Cosmology". He wrote at least nine books including "The Ultimate Fate of the Universe", which has been translated into seven different languages. 

M Abul Manchur Chowdhury, director of CU Mathematics and Physical Science Centre, Prof Fazly Hossain, former vice-chancellor of CU, and Prof Islam's wife Suraiya Islam also spoke.
