Public university teachers cut class for own payscale
Teachers of different public universities in five districts observed two-hour work abstention protesting against the proposed 8th national payscale and demanded a separate one yesterday.
Terming the proposed payscale "disgraceful and discriminatory" for university teachers, Dhaka University Teachers' Association staged a sit-in at the historic Bat-tala of the university after the work abstention.
Teachers under Rajshahi University Teachers' Association held a protest rally after the work abstention in front of the senate bhaban.
Meanwhile, teachers' associations in Sylhet Agricultural University, Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, and Chittagong University also observed the work abstention.
The protest programme was observed as per the decision of the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers' Association (FBUTA), taken on Friday.
