Rab rescues abducted man

Rapid Action Battalion claimed to have rescued an abducted man and arrested five abductors in a raid at an under-construction building in the capital's Mahakhali Niketan area on Monday.

The victim Alamgir, a trader of perishable goods, was severely injured by the torture inflicted on him by the abductors, said a Rab press release.

The arrestees were Md Abdur Rahman alias Mollah Masum, Selim Mollah, Yousuf Sharif Hossain alias Chashma Sharif, Rezaul Karim alias Shahin, and Md Akash alias Razu.

Rab also seized two foreign pistols, six bullets, two magazines, a drill and a motorcycle, it said.

Alamgir's wife lodged a complaint on Monday.

One of the masterminds Ponir fled, it added.
