Reinstate two expelled BCL leaders of Buet

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) yesterday demanded that the Buet authorities reinstate its two expelled top leaders and terminate Prof Jahangir Alam for his "links to Jamaat-e-Islami".

BCL president Shuvro Jyoti Tikader and general secretary Aby Sayeed Kanak of Buet unit led an assault on the civil engineering professor on April 12 and were expelled for this on April 20.

The BCL men defended their action, saying the professor made "provocative" remarks on Facebook following the execution of war criminal Muhammad Kamaruzzaman on April 11.

BCL general secretary Siddique Nazmul Alam said, "What Shuvro, Kanak and other BCL leaders did was 100 percent logical."
