Road crashes kill 7

Seven people were killed and another was injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.

In Chittagong, five people were killed when a bus collided head-on with a minibus on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway in Bhanga Building area of Chakaria upazila.

The deceased were Tarek Mia, 16, of Rongmohol area, Nur Nahar Begum, 55, of Ringving area, her daughter Ayesha Begum, 13, Abdul Karim, 18, of Maijghona area and Abu Sayed, 60, of Kutubdia upazila.

In Gaziapur, Molina Khatun, 50, of Mymensingh was killed when a pickup-van ran her over while she was crossing the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in MC Bazar area of Sreepur upazila.

Following the incident locals blocked the highway for around an hour, said police.

In Dinajpur, Santosh Das 30, of Borokala village was killed and two people were injured when a pickup-van fell into a roadside ditch beside Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway at Salbagan in Birganj upazila.
