Rotary Int'l announces new welfare programme

Rotary International has taken initiatives to help the underprivileged people of the country, said new Rotary Governor SAM Shoket Hossain yesterday.

In a press conference at Jatiya Press Club, he said next year 1,000 meritorious students will get scholarship, 1 lakh will get books, 5,000 people will get eye treatment, 1,000 tubewells will be installed, and 1,000 latrines will be built. Safina Rahman, outgoing governor; Mohammad Ayub, DGE; Abul Khair Chowdhury, assistant governor; Saifur Rahman, cosmopolitan president, Captain M Shafi and former governors were present.
