Samaritan sacrifices life to save street child

A garment worker was crushed under a train during his attempt to save a child playing on the rail tracks in the capital's Banani yesterday afternoon.

The deceased, Suman Mia, 40, worked at Madona Fashions Ltd in Banani.

Noticing a child on the rail tracks, Suman managed to push the child aside while the Dhaka-bound Silk City Express ran him over, according to the victim's co-worker Harun, and police.

He was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
