Santos Gupta's 11th death anniversary today

Today is the 11th death anniversary of eminent journalist and writer Santosh Gupta, whose writings inspired the democratic and progressive movements of the country.

On the occasion, Santosh Gupta Smriti Parishad will place wreaths at his memorial at Postagola cremato rium at 10:00am, said a press release.

Gupta wrote 18 books on arts, poem, politics, literature and journalism and edited more than 15 books.

His post-editorial under the penname, Aniruddha, made him one of the most popular journalists of the country. For his political connection, he was jailed several times -- for about 12 years.

He took up journalism as a career in 1957 joining the daily Azad and later switched over to the daily Sangbad. He spent 35 years with the Sangbad.

 Santosh Gupta, born in 1925 in Jhalakathi, was involved with leftist politics starting his journalism career.
