SC to hear Moudud's stay petition against HC verdict August 23

The Supreme Court yesterday fixed August 23 for hearing a petition of Moudud Ahmed seeking stay on a High Court verdict that cleared the way for a lower court to run a land-related corruption case against him.

The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case on December 17, 2013 against the senior BNP leader and his brother Monjur Ahmed on charges of grabbing government land worth over Tk 300 crore in Gulshan.

Moudud is on bail in the case while his bother on the run.
