Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed an agreement to undertake a new human rights programme in Bangladesh.

Country Director Pauline Tamesis signed the agreement on behalf of UNDP on Thursday, said a press release yesterday.

The five-year programme will focus on improving the human rights situation of Bangladesh's most vulnerable people. It will continue to strengthen the capacity of the Bangladesh National Human Rights Commission.

It also seeks to support the civil society in raising awareness on human rights and improving cooperation among relevant national partners.
