SQ Chy's son granted bail in attempted murder case
Hummam Quader Chowdhury, son of convicted war criminal and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, was granted bail yesterday, a day after he was sent to jail in connection with an attempted murder case filed seven years ago.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam granted Hummam bail as complainant Md Shamsul Huda, who was a friend of the accused, told the court that he had no objection if the court grants him bail.
The magistrate came up with the order after a short hearing on the bail petition filed by Hummam. He was not produced before the court yesterday.
The court on August 3 this year issued an arrest warrant against Hummam as he did not appear before it on different dates. Police arrested Hummam from his Dhanmondi home on Saturday, showing a warrant of arrest issued by a court in connection with the case filed in July 2008.
According to the prosecution, an altercation had taken place between the two over a matter in front of the International Club in the city's Gulshan area on July 25, 2008. Later Shamsul Huda filed a case against Hummam in this connection.
