ABM Aminul Islam Liton, Jamalpur corres-pondent of The Daily Star, died of stroke at a Delhi hospital on Saturday. He was 52.

He was in the ICU for the last two days, family quoted doctors as saying.

He left behind his wife, a third-grader son, a daughter, father, six brothers, a host of relatives, colleagues and well-wishers.

Hailing from Jurkhali Charbandha in Motherganj upazila of Jamalpur, Aminul Islam was also an assistant professor of English at Nurunnahar Mirza Kashem College in Motherganj.

Aminul -- who had been suffering from kidney complications for last two years -- went to Delhi for kidney transplant in January. He was scheduled for a transplant on April 26.

But he along with his wife and his kidney donor were infected with Covid-19. The others recovered a few days ago, said Aminul's younger brother Anisur Rahman Babul.
