Tourist spots in Ctg reopen after five months
After five months of closure, tourist spots of the port city were finally reopened yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner Elias Hossain said all tourist spots of the city -- including Chattagram Zoo, Foy's Lake, and Patenga beach -- have been reopened for the public.
However, visitors can visit the sites only on 16 conditions, which include maintaining health guidelines, hygiene, and social distancing, he said.
Following the outbreak of the coronavirus, the recreation centres were shut from March 18 to contain the spread of the virus, said district administration sources.
The decision to reopen the tourist spots was taken at a meeting of Chattogram District Committee on Coronavirus Prevention, said the deputy commissioner.
The last meeting of the committee was held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner on Wednesday.
In addition, sea beaches, tourist spots, and hotels and motels in Cox's Bazar municipality area were reopened on August 17 on a limited scale.
