Two jailed for irregularities in producing food items in Ctg
A mobile court of the Chittagong district administration yesterday sentenced two people to different jail terms for different irregularities in producing food items in the city.
Shimul Majumder, manager of Purbani Bakery, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment while Dulal Mia, owner of illegal ice-cream factory Energy Icebar, to one month, said Executive Magistrate Ruhul Amin who led the drive.
During the drive conducted in the factory in Ghat Farhadbeg Korbaniganj area, the court found that harmful dyes and other ingredients were being used in making ice-cream.
Meanwhile, in the bakery in the same area it was found that burnt palm oil was being used in frying food items and the staff did not maintain hygiene while making food.
The court destroyed 2,000 pieces of ice-creams and 30 litres of burnt palm oil.
