Verdict on no confidence plea review Nov 9
A Narayanganj court yesterday fixed November 9 to pass an order on review of no confidence petition against the charge sheet submitted by detectives dropping names of five accused in the sensational seven-murder case.
The court fixed the date after around half-an-hour argument by the defence and prosecution.
Earlier on July 8, a Narayanganj court accepted the charge sheet rejecting the no confidence petition filed on May 11 by Selina Islam, wife of Narayanganj City Corporation councillor Nazrul Islam who was one of the victims.
On July 9, Selina filed a review petition with the court.
In the charge sheet submitted on April 9, Awami League leader Nur Hossain was made the prime accused. Twenty-five Rab members, including ex-top officials Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Arif Hossain and SM Masud Rana, were also made the accused.
Siddhirganj Thana unit Awami League General Secretary Yeasin Mia was among the five people whose names were dropped from the charge-sheet submitted to the court on April 9.
Talking to reporters at the court, Advocate Sakhawat Hossain, a counsel for Selina, said they in their argument told the court that an Indian court recently ordered to send back Nur Hossain home and he needed to be quizzed to know who financed or who masterminded the murders.
Selina demanded a fresh investigation after interrogating Nur.
In April last year, seven people including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker were abducted.
Their bodies were later found floating in the river Shitalakkhya.
