A woman yesterday filed a complaint with police alleging that she was raped by a man while his cohorts recorded the incident with a video camera in the capital's Shewrapara.

Police detained five people including the alleged rapist after the woman filed the case with Mirpur Police Station, said Sub-inspector Kamal Hossain.

No video footage was recovered, he said.

The SI said they were assessing claims of both the accused and the complainant.

A forensic test on her would be conducted today at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Shafiqur Rahman, inspector (investigation) of the police station.

The complainant, who is a first-year honours student, lives in Badda.

Citing the case statement, police said she was coming home yesterday from a coaching centre when her friend took her to a house in Shewrapara and raped her there.

The three miscreants threatened to upload the video on the internet if she went to police, but she filed the case after talking to her family, said police, quoting her.
