World Occupational Therapy Day observed
The World Occupational Therapy Day was observed at the Centre for the Rahabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) in Savar yesterday.
The Bangladesh Occupational Therapy Association and Occupational Therapy department of CRP organized the day long programme.
Occupational therapy is a method of therapeutic treatment to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of people with a physical, mental, or cognitive disorder. Actually, it tends to maximize the patient's ability to attain independence in everyday living through various purposeful activities, therapeutic exercises, special equipments, skills training and environmental modification.
At a discussion held at CRP's Reddaway Hall, speakers said the occupational therapy is becoming popular in Bangladesh day by day. For rehabilitation the therapy has been contributing a lot, they said.
However, a colourful rally was brought out from CRP premises. About a hundred of physically challenged people participated in the rally and marched towards Dhaka-Aricha highway.
Later, a Basketball competition among the physically challenged people was held at CRP play ground.
