“UN warns against further violence,” published on December 2, 2013

Unfortunately, it is quite clear that Bangladesh is not ready for the Westminster style democracy yet. It should develop a political process (and democracy) based on its own unique history, needs, demography, etc. Educated people are voting for uneducated leaders time and time again.

Today's TDS poll question was “Do you think it is justified for the ruling Awami League to nominate controversial candidates and local godfathers for the next parliamentary elections?” I answered 'Yes', meaning it is justified for the ruling Awami League. Because I do not expect anything better from Awami League.

“Outraged business leaders demand security” (December 3, 2013)

MH Khan
It is not the business leaders only who need security, we the general public also need security. By taking advantage of political turmoil, which is keeping police and Rab busy, goons have become super-active in Dhaka. Incidents of extortion, mugging and kidnapping for ransom have increased. The social structure is breaking down very fast. If those two women can not manage their so-called politics, they should retire and leave the things for us to take care of.

The entire public and private sector and the people at large need security of life and property, not only RMG sector.

It would be good if the business leaders with good reputation among workers could get thousands of their workers to flood the streets and bring the government machinery to a standstill in a non-violent protest. This might make much more impression on the supreme netri than just a few business leaders.
