Considering the level of bigoted posture against Muslims across the US, why would anyone want to raise their kids in such a society? Can anyone assure that they'll be allowed to walk with head held high? The freedom in US is an illusion. In spite of its problems, Bangladesh offers better social mobility opportunities and entrepreneurial opportunities.

I am surprised to see this kind of politically incorrect write-up coming from a former ambassador. US might not be an ideal country for migration but the country has accommodated many foreign citizens and has had a very good track record of welcoming people from all over the world. If somebody wants handouts and free heath care, US would not be the best choice. Now, we as poor citizens of a third world country can't be choosers. No country is really waiting for us with the red carpet.
