Worker killed in blast at N’ganj paper mill

A worker was killed and four others were injured in an explosion at a paper mill in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj this afternoon.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.

The explosion occurred around 4:00pm when some workers were working at Partex Paper Mill in Hatabo area, said Mahmudul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Rupganj Police Station.

One worker, aged around 25, died on the spot and four others injured in the blast, he said.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy, the OC said, adding that the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with critical injuries.

Police suspect that explosion originated from a leak in the gas pipeline at the paper mill, the official added.
