11 madrasa teachers suspended for drawing salary from jail

Eleven madrasa teachers were suspended yesterday on charge of taking their salaries despite being in detention for separate sabotage cases in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore.

The Secondary and Higher Education Directorate (SHED)issued the suspension order through a letter signed by Assistant Director (Special) Mohsena Begum. The letter says that the salaries of those teachers will be withheld until the cases against them are disposed off.

Sharif Raihan, upazila nirbahi officer of Keshabpur, said they have not received the suspension letter from the SHED. They will take action against the teachers after receiving the letter.

Keshabpur Police Station OC Shahidul Islam Shahid said 11 teachers of nine madrasas were arrested on suspicion of link to subversive activities.
