13 held on Benapole border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 13 people when they were going to India illegally through Balurmath Putkhali border under Benapole Port Police Station yesterday.

The border guards, acting on a tip-off, raided the area at around 7:00am and arrested nine women and four men while they were crossing the border without valid documents.

The arrestees hail from Bagerhat and Khulna districts, said Samsur Rahman, in-charge of 23 Putkhali BGB Camp.

They were later handed over to the police station, said the BGB official.

A case was filed in this connection, he said.
