2 AL men killed in Faridpur factional clash
Two Awami League activists were killed and 15 others injured during a factional clash in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur this afternoon.
The deceased, Roushan Mia, 52, and his nephew Tuhin Mia, 25, were residents of Kaichal village, Shahin Mohammad, emergency medical officer of Faridpur Medical College Hospital, told our local correspondent.
Two groups -- one led by Kabir Hossain alias Sandu Mia, Kaichal union parishad chairman, and another led by Hanif Mia alias Hridoy, a Jubo League central committee member, clashed with lethal weapons at the village, leaving at least 15 activists of both the groups injured, witnesses said.
Of the injured, Roushan and Tuhin succumbed to their injuries while they were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, the medical officer further said.
Locals said the deceased were the followers of UP chairman Sandu.
There had been a longstanding political feud between the two groups in the area, they added.
