2 children drown in pond

Two children drowned in a pond at Karim Ali village in Sharsha upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Abir Hossain, 7, son of Abul Kasem and Russel, 6, son of Khalilur Rahman of the village.

Locals said Abir and Russel slipped into the pond and drowned when they were playing on its bank at around 8:00am.

Family members rescued the duo and sent them to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead.
