46 Bhola Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal men land in jail
A court here yesterday sent 46 Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal men to jail in the cases for vandalising vehicles and attacking cops in Sadar upazila during the countrywide blockade programme enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance in January this year.
As many as 51 accused appeared before the Court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Mashfiqul Hoque and sought bail in four separate cases.
After hearing, the magistrate granted bail to five accused and sent the remaining 46 to prison, said Court Inspector Md Tajul Islam.
Jubo Dal leader Tarikul Islam, JCD district unit president Khandokar Al Amin, vice-president Monir Hossain, joint secretary Jakir Hossain Monir, Juba Dal Bhola sadar upazila unit convener Kabir Hossain, JCD sadar upazila unit convener Mostafa Kamal, joint convener Abdul Latif Titu, convener of the district unit of Swechchhasebok Dal Jamil Hossain Wadud, and Jubo Dal district unit joint secretary Zakir Hossain Sabuj are among the accused.
Police filed four cases against Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal leaders and activist with Sadar Police Station for vandalising passenger buses and auto-rickshaws and attacking the on-duty policemen in different areas of the upazila during the blockade in January this year.
On July 28, A Bhola Court sent 31 Jubo Dal men, including district unit president Yearul Alam Liton and Jubo Dal central committee member and former district unit JCD president Abdul Kader Selim, to jail in two similar cases.
