7 Joypurhat Jamaat men remanded

A court here yesterday granted two-day remand for seven leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami in a sabotage case.

Judge Tajul Islam Mia of Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court passed the order after Joypurhat police produced them before the court seeking a five-day remand.

The arrestees are Dr Fazlur Rahman Syeed, ameer of Jamaat's Joypurhat district unit, Taslim Uddin, ameer of Panchbibi upazila unit, its secretary Sujaul Islam, Anwar Hossain, secretary of Sadar upazila unit, and Jamaat activist--Abdul Amin and Jubayer Hossain.

Anwarul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said law enforcers on July 22, arrested the Jamaat men from Haripur upazila in Dinajpur while they were holding a secret meeting there.
