7 passport brokers jailed

A mobile court here yesterday sentenced seven passport brokers, aged between 25 to 30, to two months' imprisonment. The convicts are Monwar Hossain of Krishnapur village and Ripon Hossain, Uzzal Sheikh, Saiful Islam of Chatiyani village, Wahidul Haque of Chadmari village and Topu Hossain and Milon Sheikh of Kalabagan village in Sadar upazila of the district. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the passport office in the town and arrested the seven on charge of harassing passport seekers. The arrestees were later produced before the court which punished them, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Mominul Karim.
