Boy beaten to death by neighbours, 3 arrested

Police on Wednesday recovered the body of a 12-year-old boy, who was allegedly beaten to death by neighbours at West Barapilak area under Guimara upazila of the district the day before.

The deceased was identified as Abu Yousuf Rana, son of Sajadur Rahman of the area.

Quitting the victim's family members, Mohammad Kazi Humayan Rashid, assistant superintendent of police (Ramgarh Circle), said Abu Yousuf Rana and Mohammad Hridoy, his neighbour and friend of the same age, scuffled while playing on Tuesday. At one stage, Hridoy sustained injuries on his hand.

Hearing about the incident, family members of Hridoy beat Rana to dead and hid his body under a bush. Police and family members recovered the body the following day and sent it to Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital for autopsy, a police official said.

Following a case filed by victim's father Sajadur Rahman with Guimara Police Station. Police arrested Hridoy's mother Hajara Begum, his aunt Fatema Begum and uncle Mohammad Ramdan Ali, police said.
