Child worker beaten dead at Laxmipur bakery

A child worker was beaten to death allegedly by his employer and colleagues at a biscuit and bread factory in Bismillah Road area of Laxmipur Sadar upazila yesterday.

The deceased, Alauddin, 12, son of Abul Kalam of Maguri village in the upazila, was a worker at Ananda Bakery in the town.

Police detained the bakery owner Mohammad Nasir, 32, and its staff Al-Amin, 28, for interrogation.   

Victim's father Kalam alleged that Nasir along with other staff of the bakery beat up Alauddin mercilessly for not attending his workplace in early hours everyday, leaving the boy dead around 5:30am.

Later the criminals hung the body from the ceiling of the factory and left the place locking the bakery from outside, Kalam added.

Sub-inspector Kawsar Chowdhury of Chandraganj Police Station said, being informed by locals, police recovered the body and sent it to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
