Cop beaten up for collecting illegal toll

A policeman was beaten up on allegation of collecting illegal toll at Golora bus stand in Saturia upazila yesterday.

The accused is Al-Mamun, constable of Manikganj police out post.

Divisional action will be taken against Mamun if he is found guilty in primary investigation, said Superintendent of Police Mahfuzur Rahman.

 Locals said Mamun in plainclothes went to the bus stand in the morning and started demanding money from vehicles.

Seeing this, local people gave him a good beating and handed over him to police, said Monirul Islam, district intelligence officer.
