Four drown in rivers in 2 dists

Four people, including three children, drowned in separate incidents in Sirajganj and Pabna districts on Sunday.

Police and locals said a man and his seven-year-old son drowned while bathing in the Korotoa River at Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district at around 2:00pm on Sunday.

Relatives of the victims recovered the bodies from the river.

They victims are Hashu, 32, and his son Shakil, 7, a student of government primary school at Charsatbaria village in the upazila.

In Pabna, two siblings drowned in the Gumani River at Chatmohor upazila of the district on the same day.

The deceased were identified as Jyoty, 8, and Sumaiya, 7, daughters of Ansar Ali of Chinabhatkur village in the upazila.

 Local union parishad member Sattar Mandal confirmed the death of the girls, saying Jyoty and Sumaiya slipped into the river, which is near their house, and drowned while playing on its bank at around 4:00pm. Locals recovered the bodies in the evening, he added.
