Gambler dies during police chase

An alleged gambler died after falling from a wall during a police chase at Sonar Bangla Petrol Pump in Boda upazila town of Panchagarh district yesterday. The dead is Shajahan, 24, son of Makbul Hossain of Bhasainagar village in the upazila. Police said a group of people were gambling at the petrol pump premises in the afternoon. On information, the law enforcers rushed to the spot. To avert arrest, Shajahan scaled the wall to flee and fell on the ground. He died on the spot. Police later arrested Mostafa, 35, Arif, 24, Labu, 28, Nazim, 30, and Javed, 32, from the spot.
