HSC examinee murdered

An HSC examinee was killed in an attack allegedly by rivals over land dispute in Madarganj upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased is Zakir Hossain, 17, son of Azizul Haque of Dakkhin Khilkati village. He appeared in this year's HSC examinations under Bangladesh Technical Education board. 

On March 29, a gang allegedly led by Monirul, 18, son of Billal of the village, attacked Zakir, his mother and sister with sharp weapons, leaving them injured following an altercation over the land, said family sources.

Seriously injured Zakir was sent to Jamalpur General Hospital. He later got released from the hospital for appearing in the examinations on April 1, said the victim's father.

But Zakir was again admitted to the upazila health complex and then referred to Dhaka for better treatment as his condition deteriorated.

He died on way to Dhaka on Monday evening.

A case was filed in this connection yesterday, said Abdul Awal, officer-in-charge of Madarganj Police Station.
