Illegal sand lifter fined

A mobile court, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Golam Mawala, fined a man Tk 10,000 for lifting sand from the bed of Jumuneswari River illegally in Kashibari area under Taraganj upazila on Friday. 

The convict is Md Abdul Qayyum, 25, son of Rashedul Islam of Baydanathpur village. 

Police said Qayyum continued lifting sand from the river, threatening the newly built bridge over the river.
