Innocent sued for cop's crime!
Setting a bizarre example of justice reversal, the police made an ordinary citizen scapegoat to save their colleague caught by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) allegedly with 22 bottles of Phensidyl in Hakimpur upazila under the district on Tuesday night.
The man arrested by BGB is Md Anwar Hossain, a constable of Dinajpur Special Branch, while the sued person is Asiq Ali, 32, son of Mozahar Ali of Collegepara village of Polashbari upazila of Gaibandha district.
A BGB patrol team caught Md Anwar Hossain with a motorcycle and took him to their Hili camp as a drug peddling suspect from near Hakimpur Health Complex at around 7:20pm Tuesday, said sources of Joypurhat–3 BGB Battalion.
Anwar handed two bottles of Phensidyl to the BGB members and told them that he is a policeman.
The BGB men did not make any further search.
A high official of Joypurhat-3 BGB talked with Ruhul Amin, superintendent of police in Dinajpur, over phone and the SP sent a police team from Hakimpur to the BGB camp at Hili.
The police team searched Anwar and found 20 more bottles of Phensidyl from his body and bike.
Contacted, Md Mizanur Rahman, additional superintendent of police in Dinajpur, said they have closed Anwar Hossain to the District Police Lines on charge of going outside his working area Dinajpur Sadar.
Abdus Sobur, officer in charge of Hakimpur Police Station, confirmed that police sued Asiq Mia in connection with Phensidyl recovery in Hakimpur upazila on Tuesday night.
He claimed that Asiq was carrying Phensidyl and he fled away when BGB members saw him.
BGB members, on the other hand, said they did not see any such man.
