Jubo League leader beaten to death

A union level Jubo League leader was beaten to death, allegedly by his cousin over land dispute in Hakimpur upazila of the district yesterday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Md Bodiuzzaman Suzan, 30, president of Boaldar Union Jubo League under the upazila, and son of Selim Uddin Sardar of Boigram village.

Family feud over land and ponds was the reason behind the killing, said police and locals.

Witnesses said the victim's cousin Shaifiqul Islam along with his hired goons beat up Bodiuzzaman while he was having tea at a roadside tea stall in the village. Locals said Bodiuzzaman died on the spot.

Abdus Sabur, officer-in-charge of Hakimpur Police Station, said the body would be sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
