Kid raped, accused held

A child was raped allegedly by a youth in Kaliti village under Kulaura upazila of the district yesterday morning.

The alleged rapist, Swapon Rajbhar, 20, of the village, is an unemployed person.

Anwar Hosain, sub-inspector of Kulaura Police Station, said the victim, a six-year-old child was at her house in the morning while her family members went outside for work.

Locals said Swapon went to the girl's house and lured her with chocolate to go to his house, and raped her. Hearing the screams of the girl, neighbours went to the spot, rescued the victim and admitted her to Moulvibazar 250-seat hospital.

Md Shamsudoha, officer-in-charge of Kulaura Police Station, said police arrested Showpon Rajbhar in the morning.

Victim's family filed a case in this connection yesterday.
