Land dispute leaves 15 hurt
At least 15 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a land dispute in Birganj upazila of the district on Tuesday. Eight of the injured-- Forhad Hossain, his two sons Sohag and Sowrav, 18, Sukur Ali, his son Al Amin, 20, Md Sayed, 24, Sufian Hossain, 23, Md Reaz, 18, and Md Selim, 15--were admitted to Birganj Upazila Health Complex, Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital and Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. Quoting locals, police said there had been a feud between Forhad Hossain and Shukur Ali of Prannagar village over the ownership of a piece of land. The duo locked in an altercation over the issued on Tuesday evening. At one stage, supporters of the two locked in a clash at Pachishmile Bazar, leaving 15 people from both sides injured.
