Locals encircle DB men

Local people encircled several members of Detective Branch (DB) of police for an hour on Saturday night at Khalpara in Thakurgaon municipality area as they allegedly tried to arrest a youth after keeping a pack of hemp forcibly in his project. Local sources said a team of DB police led by Sub-Inspector Zahangir Alam went to Khalpara around 8:00pm and started moving around in the area. At one stage, constable Ruhul Amin intercepted one Saddam Hossain, 22, and forcibly put a packet of hemp in his pocket so as to arrest him for carrying drugs. Observing the situation, locals protested the incident and encircled them for an hour. Later, with the initiative of the local Awami League leader, the DB men freed Saddam and left the place.
