Man killed over land dispute

A man was killed over land dispute at Eralia village in Baniarchang upazila of Habiganj district yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Shamsuddin, 50, of the village.

Locals said there had been a long-standing dispute between Shamsuddun and Gedu Miah over a piece of land at the village.

Gedu Miah and his supporters swooped on Shamsuddin while he was talking to some family members on the premises of his house at around 10:00am. They hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.

Gedu Miah and his supporters went into hiding soon after the incident.
