Power outage hampers rock production in Madhyapara

Frequent power outage is hampering rock production at Madhyapara Granite Mining Company Ltd (MGMCL) in the district. 
Official of Germania Trest Consortium (GTC), the contracted company of MGMCL, said they suspended the production after a nor'wester lashed the area on Tuesday, damaging electric poles that affected smooth power supply.
However, the regular works are being taken place with alternative power arrangement, said Jabed Shiddiqui, general manger of GTC.
Load shedding occurred five to six times since yesterday morning, he said. 
On the other hand, situation remained normal in Barapukuria coalmine area. 
Contacted, Mahbubur Rahman, assistant engineer of Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) in Phulbari upazila, said they are trying their best to restore the power supply.
