Two housewives murdered in Pabna, Naogaon

Two housewives were murdered in Pabna and Naogaon districts early yesterday and the day before.

Our Pabna correspondent reported that a housewife was killed allegedly by her husband over a family feud in Santhia upazila of the district early yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Johirun Nesa, 35, wife of Abdur Razzak of Haizor village in the upazila.

Quoting victim's family members and locals, police said Jahirun sold one of her cows at a good price recently. As Razzak demanded the money from Jahirun on Tuesday night, she refused to pay heed to the demand and picked up a quarrel with him.

At around 12:30am, Razzak hacked Jahirun with a sharp weapon while she was asleep and fled the scene. Jahirun died on the spot.

Being informed by locals, police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Kutub Ali, victim's brother, field a murder case with Santhia Police Station, accusing Razzak, said Shahed Mahmud, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Away in Naogaon, the body of a housewife was recovered from Chakdebpara area in the district town on Wednesday, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent.

The deceased was identified as Jyotsna Begum, 40, wife of Abdul Latif, rickshaw puller of the village.

Police quoted locals as saying that masked criminals numbering 4 to 5 entered Jyotsna's rented house around 11:30am and killed her by slitting her throat with sharp weapons and fled the scene.

Seeing Jyotsna lying in a pool of blood, locals informed the police, who later recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Zakirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station.
