US-Bangla Airlines takes back 45 Indian sailors to New Delhi
US-Bangla Airlines has repatriated 45 Indian sailors -- stranded in Bangladesh due to suspension of regular passenger flights on international routes due to Covid-19 – to New Delhi by a special chartered flight today.
"The special flight left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Delhi at 11:00am," an official of Aviation Security of HSIA told The Daily Star.
Earlier in the morning, the Indian sailors were brought to Dhaka from Chattogram by a domestic flight of US-Bangla, said Kamrul Islam, general manager, Public Relations, of US-Bangla Airlines, said.
Mumbai-based Sea Dogs Marine Services Private Ltd supervised their journey home.
US-Bangla took the sailors home in coordination with Indian High Commission in Dhaka, Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indian Foreign Ministry, and Civil Aviation Authorities of both India and Bangladesh, said the release.
US-Bangla also said the airlines has so far brought back 3,000 stranded Bangladeshis from Indian's Chennai, Thailand's Bangkok as well as took back 28 Taiwan citizens home from Bangladesh.
