Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has asked Railway authority to take departmental action against chief booking assistant of Khulna Railway Mehedi Hasan as he was primarily found involved in selling tickets in the black market.

Upon receiving an allegation of selling tickets in the black market, an ACC team led by Deputy Director Nazmul Hasan today led a drive at Khulna Railway Station, said a press release issued by the ACC.

During Eid, Bangladesh Railway usually adds additional coaches to its train service to meet passenger’s extra demand.

The team found that the tickets of eight A/C, 14 Singhda and 140 Shovon seats of Dhaka bound Chitra Express of August 16 was kept blocked for VIPs.

“Usually VIPs do not buy tickets of Shovon class. Station authority could not give proper answer why the 140 seats were kept blocked,” it reads.

“It appears that the tickets were kept blocked for black market selling,” it said adding the team found involvement of chief booking assistant of Khulna Railway Mehedi Hasan in the incident.

Later, the block on tickets was lifted for general passengers.
