Multiplexes suspend evening shows amid new govt directives

Amid a global energy crisis triggered by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the government has introduced a series of measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption. These include shortened office hours and a directive requiring shops and shopping malls to close by 6:00pm.

In response, Blockbuster Cinemas, located at Jamuna Future Park in the capital, has issued an urgent notice outlining the impact on its operations.

In a statement released on Saturday (April 4), the cinema chain confirmed that, in line with the government’s directive, all shops and markets will remain closed after 6:00pm starting Sunday (April 5) until further notice. As a result, all previously scheduled evening screenings at Blockbuster Cinemas have been temporarily suspended.

The authority further stated that patrons who had purchased advance tickets for shows scheduled after 6:00pm from April 5 onwards will receive full refunds through the designated process.

Expressing regret over the inconvenience caused, Blockbuster Cinemas assured customers that their continued support and cooperation remain invaluable during this period.

Meanwhile, all Cineplex shows scheduled after 6:00pm on April 5 and 6 have also been suspended. Authorities said further updates and decisions will be communicated regularly through their website.
