Nripendra Lal Das, Bulbul Islam to receive Bangla Academy’s Rabindra Award

Bangla Academy has announced Professor Nripendra Lal Das and Rabindra Sangeet artiste Bulbul Islam as recipients of the “Rabindra Award 2026”.

According to a press release signed by Bangla Academy Director General Prof Mohammad Azam on Thursday, Prof Das will receive the award for his contributions to Rabindranath Tagore research, while Bulbul Islam is being recognised for his work in Rabindra Sangeet.

The awards will be presented on May 11 during a programme organised by Bangla Academy to mark the 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.

Bangla Academy introduced the Rabindra Award in 2010. Two individuals are honoured each year for their contributions to Tagore studies and cultural practice.

The award carries a cash prize of Tk 100,000, along with a certificate, commemorative crest and floral tribute.
