Runa Laila will perform at the main stage of the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on July 18. Academy officials and the singer’s team have confirmed the event.

Runa Laila recently returned to Bangladesh. She had spent over a month in the United States on family business. Since coming home, she has been busy preparing for this programme.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has been organising a series of solo music programmes featuring the country’s renowned artistes since last year. Previously, special programmes were arranged featuring Sabina Yasmin and Syed Abdul Hadi. Following that tradition, Runa Laila will now perform.

She will sing around ten of her popular and beloved songs at the event. The programme will feature notable songs sung at various points across her six-decade musical career.

Speaking about the upcoming show, Runa Laila said such events help introduce younger audiences to older music and memories. She said she would try to sing some of the audience’s favourite songs. She noted that in her 62-year career, she has performed at Shilpakala Academy only two or three times before. However, this will be her first solo music programme there. She said she hoped the evening would be beautiful and memorable for the audience.

Later this month, Runa Laila will travel to Australia. She is scheduled to perform at several events there.
